Therapist welcomes a new client as she begins to get more patients into her practice

Top 5 Ways To Get More Patients Into Your Practice

If you’ve started your own practice in the healthcare industry, you’ll know that the competition is rife, and although you all have the same end-goal of helping people, it’s still every practice for themselves. You want people to choose your practice and get more patients. If we’re all honest with each other, that’s often no easy feat.

Especially if you’re pretty new.

Some of these folks have been in the game for years, if not decades, and their patients trust them. They will go back to them time and time again, and the therapist will get more patients because they’ll ensure that their friends do too.

But why? And how? How do you get to the point where you’re

  1. retaining patients, and
  2. getting 30-50 new ones per month?

Because that’s the kind of foot traffic you need in order to grow, right? Right. But again, not so easy. It won’t happen overnight. Your practice is like a flower. It needs some water, sunlight and hours of Mozart on loop in order to grow.

Now of course, standing on the roof of your practice with a watering can and a boombox will not make it grow and get you more patients.

Here are things that WILL bring in new clients so you can get more patients:

1. Know your target audience – You can market your practice until the cows come home, but if you don’t know who you’re targeting, you won’t know where you’re going. Look at your current patients. Who are they? Are they mostly children? Millennials? Pensioners? Wall Street ballers? Figure out exactly WHO your target market is. That way, when you’ve got a team optimizing your website, running your online ads and managing your socials, they’ll be able to create content that speaks to them. If your patients are mostly pensioners but your marketing speaks to millennials, it’s time to rethink your strategy.

2. Stay active on your socials – It’s 2022. People judge the success of a business by its social media presence. If you’re posting something once a month to your 13 followers on Instagram, people will take one look at your page and either assume that your practice is dead, or that it’s situated in a cornfield. And that’s if they even find your page. Posting regular, consistent content that your target audience will relate to will result in likes, shares, growth, social validation and confirmation that you are, in fact, a valid practice.

3. Optimize your website – This is an absolute key component for getting more patients. And it’s not just about and having a pretty landing page. You can wash your car and give it a shiny new coat, but what’s the point if it doesn’t work? It won’t leave the driveway and no one will ever see it. Like your beautiful shiny car, your website needs to operate well from the inside and it should be easy to use. Imagine getting into the driver’s seat and spending 15 minutes trying to find the ignition, and when you eventually find it (if you haven’t already given up), it’s hidden under the passenger seat’s sippy cup holder? Not fun. It’s important to ensure that you have SEO in place so that people can find your pretty landing page when they’re searching for your services, and when they do, it’s easy to use.

4. Follow up with your current patients – These people are your bread and butter. Check in on them. Let them know you want to see them again. The same goes for your patients. And like a first date, if you nurture a good relationship with them, you will not only see them again, but they’ll probably tell all their friends about you.

5. Deliver a high standard of service – At the end of the day the reality is that if you’re not playing your part, none of the above will matter. It’s important to identify the quality of service you want to provide, and train your team (and yourself) to maintain it. When someone leaves your practice, you want them to feel good. Like they’re cared for. Because at the end of the day, that’s what people want. And on a first date, if they like you and feel like they’re cared for, you’ll be seeing them again in no time. And you’ll eventually get to meet their friends, parents and maybe even their grandmother.

As the world evolves into a more digital world, it’s of utmost importance to keep up with the times. There’s a lot of competition out there. Maintaining quality service and ensuring your online presence is up to 21st Century standard is the best way to get more patients coming into your practice and retain your current ones.
